2-Day National Seminar on Taxation organised by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India- Tax Research Department & Bhubaneswar on the theme: “Conducive Tax Laws- Opportunities & Challenges” at KIMS Auditorium, KIIT University Campus, Bhubaneswar on 21st and 22nd December, 2019

The Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICAI) – Tax Research Department & Bhubaneswar Chapter have organized 2-Day National Seminar on Taxation in the theme “Conducive Tax Laws- Opportunities & Challenges” on 21st & 22nd December, 2019 at Bhubaneswar, Odisha. To highlight the Programme one Press Meet was also organised on 18.12.19 at CMA Bhawan. More than 30 nos of Print Medias and Electronic Medias attended the programme and given wide publication in their respective news papers and news channels. They also highlighted post event news of the 2-days National Seminar on Taxation.  For more branding, Business Standard, Sambad,  Kanak News and Radio FM were the media partners . All the media Partners had given wide publicity both Pre and Post even news in their news paper and news channel.  Arrangement was also made for live Streaming of entire two days programme and after that same also been hosted in the Youtube channel .

Day-1 of the National Seminar was inaugurated by Shri. Ranendra Pratap Swain, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Corporation, Govt. of Odisha, Shri Padmanabha Behera, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Planning Convergence, Commerce & Transport , Govt. of Odisha, in the presence of CMA Balwinder Singh, President, The Institute of Cost Accountants of India, CMA Niranjan Mishra, Council Member and Chairman Indirect Taxation Committee, ICAI & Conference Committee, CMA Rakesh Bhalla, Council Member and Chairman Direct Taxation Committee, ICAI and Conference Committee , CMA H. Padmanabhan, Council Member & Chairman, RC’s and Chapter Coordination and CAT Committee, ICAI and Convener, Conference Committee,  CMA Shakidhar Singh, Chairman, ICAI-Bhubaneswar Chapter and Co-Chairman, Conference Committee and CMA Himoj Mishra, Secretary,  ICAI Bhubaneswar Chapter. On the Occasion, Conference Souvenir and publications Tax Research Department on Exemption under Income Tax Act, 1961, Input Tax Credit – an in depth Discussion were released by the eminent guests.

Technical Session-I was organized on “E-Invoicing and Reconciliation of Credits” and Chaired by Shri. Ananda Satpathy, OFS (Addl. Commissioner),Commercial Tax  & GST, Odisha. CMA (Dr.) V.Murali, Council Member and Chairman, Corporate Laws Committee, ICAI delivered key note address. CMA Anil Sharma, Practicing CMA and GST Expert and Advocate D.N. Panda, Former Judicial Member, CESTAT, Chennai were the resource persons. CMA Ajay Kumar Samal, Chairman, Career Counseling and Students Training Committee, ICAI-Bhubaneswar Chapter extended formal Vote of Thanks.

Technical Session-II was organized on the theme “ITC under GST Law- Provisions, Advance Rulings and critical Issues” and Chaired by Shri Pranab Kumar Das, IRS , Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax,  Odisha in the presence of CMA Papa Rao Sunkara, Council Member, ICAI, CMA Chittaranjan Chatterjee, Council Member and Chairman, Banking and Insurance Committee, ICAI delivered key note address. CMA Viswanath Bhatt, Practicing CMA and GST Expert, Bengaluru and  CMA Waman Parkhi, Sr. Partner KPMG, New Delhi were the Resource Persons. Last session of Day-1 was on CFO’s Meet which was chaired by CMA Pravakar Mohanty, Director Finance, OHPC Ltd., OPGC Ltd. & OCPL, Bhubaneswar.  CMA (Dr.) K.Ch. A V S N Murthy, Council Member and Chairman, Journal and publication Committee, ICAI delivered welcome address and CMA P. Raju Iyer, Council Member and Chairman, Internal Audit Standards Board, ICAI delivered key note address.  CMA Biswarup Basu, Vice President, ICAI was also addressed on the occasion, CMA P. Day -2 of the National Seminar was inaugurated and graced by Smt.Aparajita Sarangi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) as “Chief Guest” in the presence of CMA Niranjan Mishra, Council Member and Chairman Indirect Taxation Committee, ICAI & Conference Committee, CMA Rakesh Bhalla, Council Member and Chairman, Direct Taxation Committee, ICAI and Conference Committee,  CMA Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak, Vice-Chairman, ICAI-EIRC, CMA Uttam Kumar Nayak, Secretary, ICAI- EIRC, CMA Saktidhar Singh, Chairman, ICAI-Bhubaneswar Chapter and Co-Chairman, Conference Committee and  CMA Mukesh Chaubey , Vice Chairman and Chairman, PD Committee , ICAI-Bhubaneswar Chapter.

On the Occasion Publications of Tax Research Department such as Handbook on Impact of GST on MSME Sector, Handbook on Works Contract, Impact of GST on Real Estate, Compilation of GST Notification and Circulars, are released by the eminent guests.

Day-2 started with an Open House Discussion. In Post Lunch session  technical session was organized on “Direct Tax Reform in India : Global Practices in Direct Taxes –  Emerging in India, Challenges and Opportunities for CMA’s in new era of Direct Tax in India, ITC critical issues”.

CMA AmitSarkar, Senior Director Indirect Taxation Deloittee Haskins and Sells LLP, Mumbai delivered on Provisions and Situation Analysis –Deposit Work, Tunkey/EPC Contract, Tolerance of an act , Valuation of Stock Transfer, RCM and Exports. CMA Mallikarjun Gupta, Chief Taxologist, Logo info Soft Business Technology Pvt. Ltd. delivered on Readiness by New Return Filing System . Shri Arunava Chattapodhyay of  MCX India Ltd. and Shri Saurabh Das of  NSDL E-Governance Infrastructure Limited addressed on the occasion.
